Marine Design Centre Workshops - Optimising On-Board Fluid System Design with Flowmaster, Newcastle upon Tyne UK 4 & 18 February

Flowmaster held two workshop days to highlight how 1D CFD system simulation has assisted Naval Architects and Marine Engineers to create accurate analytical models of fluid networks using industry standard components, and to analyse how they would perform under varied operating conditions.

Attendees could find out how leading marine companies have overcome fluid system issues, and the part Flowmaster played in this resolution. Topics covered included Marine Thermal management, flow balancing, Fire Safety deluge and ballast distribution, with discussion inspired by these and other less common examples.

Attendees were able to have the opportunity to interact with the technology, start their own network, build components and then interrogate and alter it. See how Flowmaster can be used to great effect with variable parameters on frequently encountered networks.

NAFEMS Seminar - Coupling 1D and 3D CFD: The Challenges and Rewards of Co-Simulation, Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK 17 March 2010

Flowmaster will be supporting and presenting at this seminar, which will discuss how 1D and 3D CFD can be successfully coupled to bring great benefits across many branches of engineering including the Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical, Chemical, Marine, Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Power Generation industries.

With presenters from global engineering companies and other leading CFD and CAE software vendors the Seminar aims to:

  • Explore the motivation for linking 1D system and 3D CFD models in terms of engineering and practical aspirations;
  • Consider some of the key challenges in performing such analyses and how to rise to them; and
  • Look at some of the commercially available options for addressing the technical need.
