Celebrating 20 Years of Flowmaster

Flowmaster Ltd celebrates 20 years of Flowmaster being utilised by designers and analysts around the world – proving Flowmaster as world leading System Simulation software.

Since its inception in 1987, Flowmaster has been aiding engineers to simulate complex fluid systems across a wide range of industries including Automotive, Aerospace, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Process and Water.  Its ability to analyse data at the concept stage has been fundamental in reducing development cycles, optimising component selection and improving performance. 

“Flowmaster has developed significantly over the past 20 years, as have many of the industries we supply to.  Automotive for example has seen tremendous growth in the technology used to enable OEMs to design better vehicles, faster and at a lower cost.  Product Development Cycles have reduced from approximately 60 months in 1995 to just 18 months today.  At the same time, legislation to reduce environmental impact is growing.  System Simulation continues to play a fundamental role in meeting these demanding objectives.  The ability to use Flowmaster at the concept stage to run complex simulations from minimal data is having a significant impact on the overall success of a project in today’s highly competitive market,” comments Richard Tickle, Managing Director for Flowmaster Group.

Flowmaster values customers’ feedback and has been working closely with users continually to research and develop new products.  The latest, Flowmaster V7, was launched earlier this year. 

Building on the success of V7, Flowmaster launched the first industry specific System Simulation product to the automotive industry at VTMS 8 in May 2007. The event attracted OEMs and Tiered Suppliers from around the world and provided the first opportunity for customers to view and trial V7 Automotive R1.

Dozens of new automotive components have been introduced along with advanced tools that enable the analyst to find quickly, manipulate and audit the data used within any simulation. A powerful database manages the knowledge and facilitates collaboration amongst design teams within a secure, auditable environment.

As legislation to minimise environmental effects is increasing, the need to design efficient systems is becoming more demanding.  Whether minimising carbon emissions, creating cogeneration or increasing performance, development needs to be achieved at the lowest cost and in the shortest time scale.  Working closely with all industry sectors to understand their challenges, Flowmaster is continually developing System Simulation solutions ensuring customers are able to meet these demanding objectives, now and in the future.
